Question: I have sewage backing up in the basement what should I do?

Answer: Check if you have power, sometimes the float mechanism is not working. If you’re not sure call our offices at (212) 981-1150 or (718) 249-2325 and ask to speak with our customer success team and they will walk you through a phone diagnosis. After diagnosing the problem and if you need further assistance, we will send a truck to provide you with a temporary solution until your repair is completed.

Question: Do I need to service my pumps on a regular basis?

Answer: Some pumps need to be lubricated on a regular basis others are maintenance free. But you do need to keep the area clean and dust free. If you are doing construction in the area make sure that you protect your pumps and motors. If you have a sewage pit they need to be cleaned as needed in accordance to usage.

Question: My pump is making a grinding noise can it be repaired?

Answer: Typically yes, but depending on how long your pump has been making noise will determine the extent of the repair. If you have a secondary pump you can turn the noisy pump off and call our customer success team to schedule an appointment with one of our company technicians to diagnose the problem and provide you with an estimate.

Question: Takes a long time to get hot water to the apartments, is it the pump?

Answer: It could be the pump, but often it could be a check valve on the piping system or other factors that could create hot and cold water mixing in the risers. The best thing would be to have one of our technicians take a look at your entire building and come to a determination of what the problem is. Remember your pump is not always to blame.

Question: If I have lack of water pressure on upper floor is my pump undersized?

Answer: Not necessarily, it could be that the pump needs to be serviced or you might have installed a back flow preventer/RPZ which typically reduces the incoming pressure by 8-12 pounds rendering your current system undersized to meet your flow and pressure requirements. We have a team of engineers on staff to determine the requirements of your building and provide you with a comprehensive evaluation of your building’s requirements and a full solution to your building pressure issues.

Question: My pump does not turn on at all what do I do?

Answer: Confirm that power is reaching your pump by checking your breakers or shut offs. If you have power you need to call our customer success team at (212) 981-1150 or (718) 249-2325 and we will dispatch a truck to handle all of your pump needs.

Question: What is the difference between a sump pump and a sewage ejector pump?

Answer: A sump pump is designed for clean water such as rain or run off water, the pump is not designed to remove any solid waste. A sewage ejector pump has a larger pipe outlet and is designed to remove solid waste. In the sewage pump family there is a wide range of pumps, including but not limited to:

  • Grinder Pumps
  • Cutter Pumps
  • Open Vein Pumps
  • Vortex Pumps
  • Non-clog Pumps

Our professional team of sales engineers can help you determine the best pump for your application.
